A Case for Proactive Cyberintelligence

 

In the past year, there have been an increasing number of worrisome media headlines focused on the impact of online data breaches targeting some of the world’s most powerful governments, banks, and retail corporations. The victims of these breaches include large multi-national companies with extensive internal cyberthreat management teams, as well as many layers of endpoint security intended to lock down sensitive networks from those who have no business accessing them.

The underlying problem is that no matter how extensive endpoint security is, it will do little to stop a hostile party if they possess stolen but otherwise legitimate access credentials. It is also a problem which extends far beyond the false perception that it is limited to big finance and major retail corporations. By examining activity in the Deep & Dark web, we can understand the some of the risks for any industry―including the international legal industry.
