Ransomware’s main goal is to make money. Every time this is threatened, the ransomware actors will need to adapt and overcome any obstacle that prevents any financial gain. In this talk, we will show how ransomware has evolved to tackle these challenges and get the victims to pay ransom. We will show how ransomware has evolved from its main directive of data hostage through encryption to a full blown extortionist scheme.
